Onam is Kerala’s grandest harvest festival and a time when Malayalis everywhere come together to celebrate culture, abundance, and community. A traditional Onam Sadhya consists of a vegetarian feast of more than 26 dishes, from Avial and Thoran to tangy sambar and multiple varieties of payasam. It’s served on banana leaves, with each item having a place and purpose, reflecting centuries of culinary heritage. Preparing this spread is no small task, which is why Suja’s Kitchen aims to make it accessible for those living far from home.
Suja’s Kitchen began in 1999, when Mrs. Suja Alex set out to share Kerala’s flavours with the growing Malayali community in the UAE. What started from a home kitchen has grown into a trusted brand, serving Dubai and Abu Dhabi through cloud kitchens that deliver traditional dishes with consistency and care. Our mission remains the same: to bring the authentic taste of home to your table, whether it’s for a family dinner or a corporate gathering.
This year’s Onam was particularly special for us. We were honoured to receive an unprecedented number of orders from families, friends, and organisations across the UAE. Each Sadhya box featured over 26 dishes prepared using authentic recipes. We packed every box fresh and hygienically sealed, delivering them across Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and beyond, so you could enjoy a complete Onam feast without the stress of cooking.
Quality and authenticity are our top priorities. We treat Sadhya with the respect it deserves by selecting premium spices such as black pepper and cardamom, grating fresh coconut by hand, and using cold-pressed oils. Our chefs prepare dishes in small batches, tasting and adjusting each curry to ensure balance and freshness. There are no shortcuts, only patience and a commitment to honouring the flavours of Kerala.
